Ko wai matou / who are we
Whakahaumaru Limited is the indigenous Māori firm of Silks Audit. A 100% Māori owned business providing audit services to Māori clients. Driven by the leadership of Talia Anderson – Town we are passionate about working with iwi, Māori entities and businesses to achieve their cultural, social and economic aspirations. We recognise the importance of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori within New Zealand and are committed to having Māori working on Māori clients.
We work along side Silks Audit to deliver services allowing staff the ability to work on our Māori clients but the ability to gain experience across all industries and sectors to strengthen their knowledge.
Our kaimahi have a strong history of working with iwi, Māori entities and businesses including pre and post settlement iwi. This work has enabled our people to gain an understanding of kaupapa Māori approaches to business.
We aim to be New Zealand’s preferred auditor to iwi, Māori entities and businesses.

Kaupapa / Our Mission
Whakahaumaru was established as a Māori audit firm – to focus on the delivery of audit services to our kiritaki Māori. Providing a service that allows our kaimahi to connect with our kiritaki through shared understanding, experience and knowledge of Reo and Tikanga.
To help grow and develop relationships, we believe in working kanohi ki te kanohi with our kiritaki to achieve their aspirations and desired outcomes and to provide assurance over their financial information and taonga.
Our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

It expresses the concepts of Kāwanatanga (Governance), Tino Rangatiratanga (Rights and determination), and Ōritetanga (Equity). Silks Audit are committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and through the principles we will strive to achieve the following.

Equity
Equity of access and participation by being committed to achieving equitable opportunities and outcomes for our clients and our staff. By having diversity across our directors, management, and staff with the ability to provide culturally enriched advice and services to all our clients so they achieve their expectations.
Active Protection
Active protection of Tino rangatiratanga and taonga. We recognise the importance of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori within New Zealand and are committed to educating our firm and our people on its’ importance and by incorporating it into our business practice and service delivery.
Partnership
The sharing of knowledge and ideas towards a common goal by working together with our clients to ensure they achieve their cultural, social, and economic aspirations.

With your food basket and my food basket the people will thrive.
While working in isolation might result in survival, working together can take people beyond survival and onto prosperity.
