The Rātana Wāhine Rugby Team ( The Silky Wahs) represented Ratana and Aotearoa in the Nanairo Cup in Fukuoka – Kokura – Japan. They played Japan representative players in their respective teams and provided some exciting play including scoring 3 tries during the tournament. This is our second year of supporting the academy which is a programme that aims to elevate potential within rangatahi, providing them with the relevant opportunities, time, tools, and teachings to not only excel within sports, but within everyday life.

The STARS Rugby League Academy is a programme that aims to elevate potential within Rangatahi proving them with the relevant opportunities, time, tools, and teachings to not only excel within sports, but within everyday life. This year the juniors had the opportunity to train at the Warriors facilities and meet their idols along with training at the gum of UFC legend Izy Adesanya. The senior players spent the week in Sydney checking out all the facilities of local clubs and getting to meet league stars – which included the 2025 Grand Final. So proud to be apart of this kaupapa.

Silks Audit are the proud sponsors of the Rātana Junior Rugby. With 6 teams in the Whanganui competition the community is well represented and Tamariki are learning new skills and keeping active. Ka pai Tamariki, Kia mau te wehi. On the 15 June 2024, Rātana Rugby celebrated 100 years with a club day in Ratana and all the Tamariki received their 100 year Hoodies to commemorate the event.

In their first year of competing in the Whanganui competition they have excited the local community into spectating on Friday nights with the opportunity to cheer for another team that represents who they are “We are Rātana” They are locally known as the Silky Wahs – just like the warriors – they have staunch supporters who follow them to every game be it at home in Whanganui or Taihape.
